The main cause of poverty is greed. Some people have to have so much that it does not leave a reasonable life for everyone else. The major effects of poverty are hatred and increased crime. Hopelessness passed from generation to generation results in senseless acts of violence, spouse and child abuse, drug abuse and driveby shooting.

Both racial, and gender equality are causes of discrimination and unqual pay- sources of poverty.

In this day and age in the US there really is no excuse for poverty. There are so many opportunities to work and get paid a decent salary. People are not motivated because of food stamps, social security, etc. Get rid of the welfare state.

Causes: Stupid decisions(made by the person in question or their parents), unplanned pregnancies, alcohol, drugs, and careless spending.

Effects: More people on the streets, more crimes commited in general, more people trying to help them (such as charities), drainage on social structure because of more money going into these charities and for police, etc., and overcrowding in shelters.
