I am 39 weeks pregnant and my baby is still moving around ALLOT, i know this is good, but a friend told me that when labour is near the baby will go very quiet for a few days before labour.
Does this mean I am still weeks from labour or can your baby be active all the way up to labour?

This happened to me with my first baby, she stopped moving but it was just the day before i gave birth, I went into labour that night and had her just after midnight. But where all different.
They usually dont move as much near the end, they run out of room.
You shoud be excited being 39 weeks you are near the end. Im only 25 weeks and feel like im 35 weeks.
Good luck

Your friend is correct! When the baby is ready to be born, it will become very still, and quiet, letting you know it's getting prepared. Since you're 39 weeks along, and your baby is still moving you might possibly have to wait a bit longer.

The same thing happened to me with my first child. She was very active, and ended up being late, so don't be surprised if you are too. =)

Late in pregnancy, baby has alot less room to do what they did at say 16 weeks, flipping and lots of kicking. So as the clock ticks down, little one will go quite, as long as there are kicks and even some hiccups, you will know that baby is doing ok.

When I was in my last term of pregnancy, my son would sleep, or at least I guessed, and I knew when he wake, a strong kick told me he was up and was hungry or thristy, you'll be fine, these are the last days of quiet for the next 18 yrs. Good Luck to you!

Not always true . I had to but head phones on my belly and calming music to get a good night sleep..
Mine was busy the whole time. I actually got a bruse on my rib from the inside out from all the kicking he did. You may feel like cleaning a lot a day or two before the baby comes

yes, it's true that they do "quiet down", but it's usually immediately before labor...and that didn't happen for me at all...the nurses were laughing because they couldn't maintain a fetal heartbeat with the strappy things because the baby was moving so much!
