There is an evil force inside of him that keep him going..the "Thorn" curse..the cult leader is Loomis' longtime friend Dr. Wynn..we first see him in the first "Halloween", then in H5, we see a man in black..ever wonder who he was? Yes, Dr. Wynn..he has been the leader of a cult..the Thorn cult..we learn all that in Halloween 6..that is what keeps him alive..the voices in his head.

I relatively have basically considered the 1st one and that i think of it relatively is basically becasue he's EVIL. Does every person know why he chases down his sister and kills all and sundry in his way yet then does no longer kill her? What does he % from her?

They did kill him in Halloween H20 the one with Josh Hartnett, Jamie lee curtis chops his head off with an axe at the end...
