i'm on my mestural cycle. i've been on it for 3 days now. on the 2nd day, i was inserting my tampon, and i felt this sharp pain on the right wall of my vagina. then it hurt to take it out, and it hasnt stopped since. normally the blood is dark and thick, but when i take out the tampon, ive got this horrific pain, and its like a nosebleed dripping...

this happened to me last month also. i dont know what to do. i know i should stop using tampons...so please don't say that. i know it's also not an std or me being pregnant. but i can't go see a doctor because i'm on my period. what could it be? its too low to be a cyst....please help!

Being on your period has NOTHING to do with not going to a doctor. You need to get to one seriously. A number of things can be wrong, you might have a tear which can be causing the bright blood. Get to a doctor now. Plus he/she might be able to see exactly where the bleeding is coming from.

I'm wondering if you haven't cut the wall of your vagina with the tampon applicator. That would explain the pain on insertion and removal and the bleeding.

You may also have an irritation or allergy to the tampon itself, which may cause excoriation (abrasion of the skin) of the vaginal wall skin. That would also explain the pain and bleeding-imagine getting road rash, pulling off the scab, then rubbing dry cotton against the rash area several times a day.

Ideally, until you're done this cycle and can see your doctor, it would be best if you either used pads or an alternate method of internal protection that doesn't go as high up in the vagina, like the Moon Cup or Diva Cup. Neither one goes as high into the vagina as a tampon, so you might not have the irritation and pain. Diva Cups are generally available in drug stores.

Once your period is done, then see your family doctor or gynaecologist-they can either feel with a bimanual exam if there are any cysts or growths, or can use the speculum to see if there are cuts or excoriated areas.

It is possible that you have an ovarian cyst which would cause you the pain with the tampons, and as far as the blood that cyst could have just ruptured and caused the abnormal bleeding. I had emergency surgery a few moths back because my belly filled up with blood causing me horrific abdominal pain. Come to find out I had an hemorrhagic ovarian cyst which had ruptured and instead of me passing the clots my body held them inside. Please call your dr if you haven't done so already. You know your body better than anyone else, and you know when something just isn't right.

you can go see a doctor even if you're on your period. especially if you use tampons with plastic applicators or no applicators, it could be a tear in the wall of your vagina. you should see a doctor, because it could turn into an infection.

It doesn't matter if you have your period. Doctors have seen it all. If it hurts that bad and you're bleeding heavily then you should go see the doctor.

when you get up tomorrow morning, call your ob-gyn's office and ask to talk to a phone nurse and tell her what the problem...they may want to see you (even though you're bleeding)...are you bleeding more than usual?
if you start to feel weak, tired, dizzy, become pale, etc...please go to the hospital (blood loss)

I think you had better see a Dr. You may have cut yourself inside. If the bleeding is that much , don't put it off.
