I suggest that you go to the "War and Children Identity Project" at

http://www.warandchildren.org/

Here's a quote from their site:

"Children's sufferings during wartime is one of ugliest aspects of war. For many children sufferings do not end when the war is over. In the wake of war, children fathered by foreign or enemy soldiers become victims of social harassment and fail to receive the social benefits available for most children. These so-called war children are often socially stigmatized and denied most elementary education and social security. The war children also suffer from the loss of identity: They may not know who their father is and in many cases not even their mother."
