Homemade pumpkin puree is actually very easy to make. A 4-lb. pumpkin will yield about 4 cups of puree.

Things You'll Need

1 4-lb. pumpkin
aluminum foil
peelers
food processors
kitchen knives
casserole dish

Instructions

STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

STEP 2: Peel, seed and cut the pumpkin into 2-inch chunks.

STEP 3: Put the pumpkin in a 5-quart casserole, add 1/4 inch water, cover with aluminum foil and bake until tender, about 20 minutes.

STEP 4: Remove pumpkin from oven and pour off any water and excess moisture.

STEP 5: Puree the pumpkin in a food processor fitted with a metal chopping blade. Tips & Warnings

Use Sugar Pie or another type of "pie pumpkin" for your puree, not jack o'lantern pumpkins. (Jack o'lantern pumpkins are tough and stringy.)

A good thing to think about is cooking a pumpkin in wedges. First
you cook it like a cucumber, that means it has to be kept moist. A
pumpkin bread recipe could also work for some kinds of pastry. The
cooking that works is strip off the skin with a potato peeler, cook 40
minutes. Wedge pumpkin at large slice size of pie slice.
Cook wedges with 1 spices teaspoon, 1 splendo teaspoon
per wedge. Keep a mister for 4 times once every ten minutes for
cook for 40 minutes at 340 on a cookie sheet. You can put the spices
in the mister if you like for a sweeter effect. At the 30 minutes you can
place the wedges in throwaway pie tins to finish and easy handling

Cut pumpkin in half vertically, discard pulp and seeds, place it on cookie sheet cut sides down. bake at 350 until pumpkin is tender. Once cooled, remove outer peel and discard. Put pumpkin into blender and puree. Then follow any pumpkin pie recipe for other ingredients. A three pound pumpkin should equal around 2-3 cups smashed pumpkin
