one get with the trainers to know what cues they used. Sounds like you had a bad trainer somewhere he's scared of something. Almost like he is confused. I hope the trainer did not use harsh means of training. Does the horse throw it's head up more than before, that is a sign of being smacked in the head. Is he funny around the lunge whip. Look for signs that were not there before. Shying away from things, as simple as your hands. Jump at loud noises that never bothered it before. Is he different around other horses. That's about all I have in mind.

Are you familar with the cues the trainers have used? If equipment isn't the problem, I would go back and talk with the trainers. Your horse sounds confussed and acting out it's frustrations. Always best to train "with" your horse so you know whats being taught and you can be consistant. Maybe you could try going back to the trainers, with your horse, and see if they can help?

I would think that the best way to have him listen to you is go to the training sessions with the horse. Maybe the trainer uses a different technique/cue.

I agree with answerer # 2. It would be best for you to take lessons with your horse. That way you can learn TOGETHER.
If the horse wasn't bucking when it was at either trainer I would investigate if some part of his tack may be irritating him, pinching him, or making him uncomfortable in some way where he cannot concentrate on you and what you are trying to have him do.

You need to go to the trainer and them train you how to ride your horse. You should always make that a condition of you horses training. What good does it do for mme to train your horse without you if I am not showing it? Do not mean to be rude but it ain't a motorcycle. You have to work with them everyday espcially if your showing.

bad trainer maybe...I have a friend who is really good with training horses, if you'd like I can ask her.
Make sure you know the proper cues... I will check with my friend and edit this answer later.

My experience with horses, to train or ride a horse, you have to be smarter than the horse????
