question about toy cont..?

okay so I am stupid! I wasen't putting the bottle far enough into the toys mouth...but why isn't it's eyes closing when it goes to sleep? Yes, I have read the instructions. Does anyone own one of these toys so they can help me?

Other than reading the instructions check the batteries, i mean check everything on the toy or just pop out the batteries and put new ones in if they are new batteries maybe perhaps they are put in the wrong way.
