Help me out with this? I'm taking a road trip in a year or so and wanted to pick out where to go plenty ahead of time to estimate how much it'll cost and what's on the way there. I'm compiling a list of the Top Ten things across the US someone should see and I'm going to pick from it with my friends that are going with me. So far I have Niagra Falls, the Grand Canyon, New York City, Hersheys (Pennsylvania-just because it'd be crazy awesome) and Disneyland. Never been to any of those places before...not interested in going to LA or Chicago....pick the top five places in the US (Alaska & Hawaii included) you'd say I should put on my list and the best answer gets ten points. Thanks to all that give sincere answers. :)

Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado (take the train to the top - it's wonderful scenery); also the Rockies as a whole. Mount St. Helens in Washington state (and you'll probably see Mt. Rainier on the trip) - spectacular! The Appalachian Mountains in western Virginia in the fall are beautiful (don't forget to stop by Monticello - Thomas Jefferson had a definite eye for real estate!). Enjoy your trip!

If you're also going to Boston, I'd stop at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. It's right in between NYC and Boston, right off the highway. www.mohegansun.com

There's Cedar Point park in Sandusky, Ohio... If you like Roller Coasters you'll love this place.

While you're in the middle of the country you might as well go see Mount Rushmore..

You need to go see Yellowstone National Park... And while you're close enough to it (Las Vegas) you should stop by Yosemite.

Dollywood in Pidgeon Forge, TN. Right outside Gatlinberg, which is also a neat place to visit. Dollywood is an interesting down-home kind of place. More laid back than some amusement parks, with lots to see.
