My wife was forced to buy a prescription drug plan by the U.S. government a few months ago. She was told if she didn't they would charge her more. If she waited the U.S. government would penalize her. Today we got a notice that the rates are going to same the same but the private company that actually provides the plan is raising all the co-pays. This doesn't make sense... If this is supposed to be a government program, why are we forced to buy the plan from an insurance company?

You should be sure to thank your Republican Congressmen and President Bush. Pharmaceutical Companies wrote the new prescription drug bill for Medicare and the Republican Congress passed it on straight party line votes and the President signed it.

Included in the legislation is a restriction that precludes Medicare from using its large volume purchasing clout to negotiate drug prices. It's a gravy program for Corporations delivered by the Republicans. They love market forces as long as consumers have no bargaining power.

Before there was no coverage for medication for anyone on medicare unless they had private insurnace

The government set up a program that is using private venders to help provide lower cost drugs to medicare people.

The plans vary with coverage and cost. The plans are costing alot more this year because of more expense supplying the drugs.

These programs are great, they have saved people 1000' and 1000's of dollars.
