If you mean a US state, then it is Alaska. The Bering Strait, which is about 58 miles wide, separates Cape Dezhnev, Russia, the easternmost point of the Asian continent and Cape Prince of Wales, Alaska. The Diomede Islands lie directly in the middle of the Bering Strait, and the village of Little Diomede has a school which is part of Alaska's Bering Strait School District.

There is a video camera looking out over the Bering Strait towards Russia. It is a real-time camera and you can see the waves crashing onto the beach. You can control the camera, rotating it and zooming the lens. Go to:
