The only thing they are really needed for are to clean up spilled milk and chicken goop. The rest can be done with towels and washed. As for the person who buys the half sheets, have you considered just cutting a full size roll in half with an electric knife? Probably cheaper than the smaller store bought size.

I grew up without them. OK so that was ages ago but I have tons of kitchen towels and I wash tons of them every day. Dont know if I am saving the trees or poluting with the wash water.

YES. I buy the rolls with 1/2 sheets. Sometimes the little spills don't need a full sheet. Good question.

no. but there are more sanitary. also, some things can stain so it's nice to have paper towels around to toss out after such a mess.

In my house they are but I hate the fact that they are not bio-degradeable! Everytime I use a sheet I think about how I'm polluting the world... :(

They're not a necessity to us but it can be an inconvienence if there's none around. Especially if you have children!

You don't have to have them, but i use them for many things,
I buy the 1/2 sheets for us and they are perfect.
