When I hook up my Dell laptop to my TV using an S-video cable, the TV is only displaying my wallpaper...it doesn't show the DVD or other video I'm playing on my laptop. What have I done wrong?

u gotta change your monitor settings and make your tv the primary monitor, to do this

go into display properties,
go to settings and you should have two monitors,
one that is big and highlighted and the other small and not highlighted,
right on the 2nd monitor the one that isnt highlighted and click on attached and then click on primary,
your screen may flicker to the new setting or you may need to click on apply or ok,

you tv should now show your computer screen
hope that works

You need to be more specific as in what video card are you using?

If it's an ATI here's some handy info

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=1C931B4799BB483B91CA9604F620988B&c=us&l=en&s=gen

best bet is to go to http://support.dell.com you can ask there and a tech support rep will answer.

Or even better go to the Dell Tech Support Chat Room at
