Find the matrix E -1 (-1 is an exponent, so it is E to the -1 power) for each.

1. E= [2 -2]
[-1 2] (there are 2 brackets because i cannot make one normal sized matrice bracket on the computer)

2. E= [1 -1]
[1 1]

If someone could explain these, I could probably do the rest of the problems I have been assigned.

(that is ONE matrice in each of these problems, not 2 like it appears)

[a b]
[c d]

1. E=[2 -2]
____[-1 2]= 2*2-(-1)(-2)=4-2=2
E^-1=1/2 [2 2] = [1 1]
________[1 2] = [1/2 1]
You multiply 1 divided by ad-cb and switch a and d and make b and c negative.

2. E= [1 -1]= 1+1=2
______[1 1]
E^-1=1/2 [1 1] = [1/2 1/2]
________[-1 1] = [-1/2 1/2]

Hope this helped!
