there is a limited # of places engine coolant will leak from. If not the radiator then here are some thoughts.
A hose. this should be obvious.
the intake manifold may be leaking. look around the intake for signs of leakage.
a soft plug. This is located on the engine block...depending on the model there could be 4-6 of them
heater hose. This should also be obvious by looking.
Heater core...this is less obvious...2 things to look for. one is when you turn on the defroster does it fog the windshield? The other is on the passenger side of the car...feel the carpet ..if it 's wet then the heater core is most likely the culprit.
There is also the possibility of a cracked head or blown head gasket. In most cases a blown head gasket will put coolant in the water. In order to check for this simply pull the oil dipstick ...if the oil looks milky then that is the problem.
With a cracked head...sometimes it will go into the oil...but in most cases it will go into the exhaust system...which you will notice by white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Don't confuse this with condensation in the exhaust...condensation may cause white smoke for a minute or so...where as a cracked head will cause white smoke all the time.
Hope this helps

Ford Never made the best Water pumps in the world, so thats probably the culprit. If it doesn't look like the fault then stick some Block Seal in the engine. that stuff will fix all but the most serious leaks. It can even fix the head and/or gasket leaks. Hence the name, Block seal.

Is a CVH efi an american Focus? If it is i had the same probelm with my 1.6 focus. it might be the thermostat housing. coolant flows past this and this inturn tells the temp guage how hot the engine is. If this is cracked it will leak coolant. ask in your ford garage about your vehicle, as this is a very common problem with certain fords. cheap fix

it might be a head gasket check for coolant that might have leaked into the intake manifold, a smoke test would also reviel a better diagnoses to where or if any leaks are occuring that can probly be done at any good shop or maybe a ford dealership.

Check your hoses and water pump for signs of a leak. If you can't find any take the car to a radiator shop and have them pressure test it. They should be able to find the leak.

Water Pump.
Just make sure the level is actually going down, I had a customer panic because the aircon was dribbling condensate on the ground.
Some garages have a pressure tester which will help find leaks

check the radiator cap - if not this and you see no leaks check for water in the oil or an oily smell to the water it may be a faulty head gasket
