Question Details: WASHINGTON - The White House and Democratic leaders in Congress called Sunday for a criminal probe into former Rep. Mark Foley electronic messages to teenage boys. a lurid scandal that has put House Republicans in political peril. White House counselor Dan Bartlett called the allegations against Foley shocking. He said President Bush hadn't learned of Foley's inappropriate e-mails to a 16-year-old boy and instant messages to other boys before the news broke last week. Foley, R-Fla., quit Congress on Friday after the disclosure of the e-mails he sent to a former congressional page and sexually suggestive instant messages he sent to other high school pages. Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada called the Foley case "repugnant, but equally as bad is the possibility that Republican leaders in the House of Representatives knew there was a problem and ignored it to preserve a congressional seat this election year." "Under laws that Congressman Foley helped wri

BTW, Republicans also supported Foley in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

BTW, do two wrongs make a right to Republicans? What does this question have to do with Kerry who is not running for office. Is this Clintons fault?

We have come to recognize the Bush Administration as keeping all kinds of secrets down through the years. They are not about to change at this point. They may change if they lose power but never have we seen so many crooks.

No, if Foley had not resigned, he would have been asked to do so. As I understand it, your assumption that the emails were not lurid is not true. No one in the Republican party knew of the instant messages until after it was put out in the news. What amazes me is how a party that has Nancy Pilosi could have been so upset about the Foley situation and once it has been resolved, have questions of it, as this one, this much later. WHY DID NANCY PILOSE COME UP?::::::::::::Pelosi voted three times to make a convicted page sexual predator,
former Congressman Gerry Studds (D-Mass.), chair of a congressional committee.
In 1990, Pelosi voted against censuring Barney Frank for having his live-in boyfriend
run a prostitution ring from Frank's apartment.
Pelosi raised no objections when Clinton pardoned Democrat Congressman Mel Reynolds (Ill.)
who had been convicted of felonies for having had sex with a 16-year-old campaign worker.
The historic Nancy Pelosi is an authentic representative of San Francisco liberal values and hardly
has the record to lecture anyone on cleaning up the Congress.

Heavens yes they would, and prolly will. But if Dems had complete control of Congress, and the tables were turned, the Dems would do the same thing. It's not just Repubs. But Repubs are known for doing that a lot here lately, especially in Ohio, but that's a different story for a different time and topic. But as I said...both sides have done something similar in the past...that's just politics.

People knew about this months ago but waited to say anything until 35 days before the elections, that says to me that it was the Democrats who were keeping the secret, not the Republicans. The left says they take a man at his word when he said he didn't mean to put down our soldiers in Iraq, but when a man says he didn't know about a crime another person committed he must be a liar. I happen to believe Kerry meant to put down my President and not our soldiers, I also believe Hasker didn't know about Foley.

The Republican management has widespread with regard to the emails for months. they're in injury administration until now the election because of the fact the lid replaced into going to be blown off. extra desirable now than on the brink of the election, they know the known public has a short interest span.

They would if they thought they could get away with it. As it is too many people knew and there was too much probability of an October Surprise (which happened). Hard to say for sure. I think they would have ousted him last year when it wouldn't have taken such a toll, if they could have. That's why I would have done at least.

They had the power to lower gas prices and tell people they were all set with troop numbers before the elections, so who is to say what they'll do after?
