IMHO, the best food for bettas is the Tetra brand called "Betta Min", it is a high protein flake food that all of mine really enjoy.

They also like the frozen brine shrimp (adult) and frozen red worms.

In the wild, bettas are carnivores and eat live insects and larvae in the water. They need high protein diets (at least 45-50% protein).

I have never liked the pellets for bettas, I think that they cause them digestive problems. The pellets don't soften up quick enough before the fish eats them.

I have a male and spits out bettamin pellets... he doesn't like it very much.

i'm feeding him frozen & dried bloodworm and on occasion little pieces of raw shrimp.
