You could try pumping your milk and putting it into the bottle. Maybe he'd be more likely to accept it that way since the taste would be familiar. Then if you really needed to, you could gradually change the bottles over to formula. Or if you can make it just 4 mos with pumping, he could switch to whole cow's milk at 12 mos of age.
What kind of bottles are you trying? Avent tends to work well with breastfed babies as the shape is closer to mom's breast.
Who is offering him the bottles? You? Try having someone else offer it. He is SMART and knows you have the good stuff that he really likes. He could be holding out in preference for mom's milk.
You could also try having him drink from a sippy cup or a straw cup.

Don't give up on nursing.. I'm quite sure you are not insufficient & u should be able to work because he will nurse so much less as he is getting older.. Its a little late in the game to try and teach him a bottle. Just go w/ a sippy cup. Don't force him to drink forumla.. . He can have 4 oz of water a day & up to 4 of juice a day. (no more than 4 oz juice till he's about 6yrs old) Sippy cups could work just great fopr you.
Solids start to really replace nursing at about this age. by time he is 1 I bet he will only wat to nurse before sleep. Good Luck & don't get down.I'm sure you are doing wonderful.

"we've been letting him cry it out for the hour..." Please do no longer do this. The clock should not be making your infant's schedule, your infant ought to. If he's hungry after 2 hours, feed him. If he can carry off for 4 hours, fantastic. there is no experience in allowing your infant to cry for their nutrition because of the fact which you think of he ought to circulate longer. He could be dealing with a enhance spurt, they often ensue on the brink of three months. i does no longer unavoidably grant 8 oz.. attempt giving him the 6 oz.. yet do it each 3 hours if that's what he needs. If he nonetheless seems hungry after that then provide him a pair extra oz.. At 2 months my son weighed thirteen lbs. and at 3 months he weighed 15 lbs. He placed weight on fantastically plenty for the 1st 6 months and because then he's slowed down plenty. He replaced into 19 lbs. at 6 months and now, at 11 months, is around 23 lbs. no must be stricken approximately weight problems this early on.

Oatmeal. My son is getting off the bottle now but when I mix his oatmeal with the formula he's able to get full and the nutrients from the formula at the same time! We feed him with a spoon about four times a day.

Try pumping breast milk and feed him that instead of formula. Also try AVENT bottles both my kids love them and they are the only ones they will take. they also have smoothie bottles like the pacifiers in the hospital check them out.

hmm well im not sure if this will work but try breast feesing him half the time and try the bottle the other half. but when u breast feed put a lil formula on ur breast to get him used to it... if this dosent work, try holding him close when u try to give him formula so its like breast feeding. I hope i help a lil, if u have any more questions you can email me at preppypageantgirl14@yahoo.com

Have you tried using a sippy cup? A lot of times babies associate things together like bottle = water, breast = milk. A sippy cup would be new to him and he would associate formula with it. It would also be new and fun to him.

If he can sit up try a cup. Maybe even with a straw. He'll get it quicker than you think you'll be surprised. Also, make sure he doesn't have a milk allergy... if he does he may just hate the taste. That's between you and your doctor.
And yes, check with the pediatrician about this.

try to pump your milk and place it on a bottle and choose a nipple for 1-3 months because it's soft.. or there is a nipple from pigeon that is same with mom's nipple.. and if he started to drink your milk then start mixing with formula until he will used to it

it's probably just the difference in taste and texture that he doesn't like. the only thing that i would suggest is mixing breast milk with the formula to get him used to it. then you can slowly change over completely to formula.
