On March 17, 2003, president Bush said the following:
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
The question is, what should we be able to expect from the president when he tells us that there is "no doubt?" Is that a figure of speech? Does it mean "pretty sure?" Does it mean "it's possible?" To what standard shall we hold a president whose explicit goal was to "restore integrity and accountability to the White House?"
P.S. If you contend that Bush was correct, please provide a LINK to support your claim with information about more than a few dilapidated, corroded shells with chemical residue, which are in fact evidence that Iraq DISCONTINUED its WMD program years ago.

Everyone agreed on the intelligence, huh?
From the U.S. Senate REPORT ON THE US. INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY’S PREWAR INTELLIGENCE ASSESSMENTS ON IRAQ
http://www.gpoaccess.gov/serialset/creports/iraq.html
"Most of the major key judgments in the Intelligence Community’s October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), Iraq’s ContinuiHg Programsfor Weapons of Muss Destruction, either overstated, or were not supported by, the underlying intelligence reporting"
Educate yourselves, you ignorant hacks.

I am a citizen of the United States. Bush is President of the United States. Therefore Bush is my President.
When he said: "Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
this was the unanimous conclusion of the international intel comunity. The only thing I blame him for was retaining Clinton appointee George Tenet as DCI.

What would you have done if you had the nuts to have his job.
The foremost intelligence agancies in the world said that there were WMD's.
The UN was not allowed to conduct their investigations due to Saddam's regime
Saddam would not produce any evidence that the weapons which were confirmed to be in his possession in the 90's were destroyed.
We gave Iraq every chance and they were defiant. From all of these facts it can be logically deduced that he is hiding something and may be willing to use it. If Bush did not act and something would have happened his administration would have gone down in flames. Would you take that risk? Would you have jeopardized our great nation and its security?
The bottom line is that there has been no weapons discovered. They were either destroyed as Saddam claimed or sold or moved. The question still remains that why would Saddam destroy them and keep no records? If he did destoy them why wasn't the UN allowed to be present or to confirm? And, why did he continue to defy the UN if he was in compliance with the sanctions?
Bush laid his reputation and his career on the line to protect America over alleged weapons that were never discovered. Was it a mistake? Pobably, history will tell. Ultimately I think it would have been a bigger mistake to keep letting Saddam walk all over the UN and have the risk of him using WMD's in the future.

Odd how on one page the press stated that Our troops found 30.000 tons of high explosive, and were happy to let every body know that it had gotten stolen before we had the chance to provide proper security, making sure we all knew that it would have taken over one hundred semi's two weeks to move it, yet claim that there are no weapons of mass destruction.
Whether a pound at a time or ten tons at a time, it will still cause a lot of pain and misery to a lot of people.
Including us at home if we give them the opportunity.
No we havent found all the large weapons that were smuggled back into Syria, But dont forget Even Ted Kennedy swore that they were there. So if your gonna claim Bush was Lyin, your making the same claim about 99% percent of the idiots you are blindly following.
And before you go sayin that Bush fooled them, as well as 20 other countries on the planet,You better think about what your saying about your own party,I mean how stupid do ya gotta be to be fooled by a fool?
I would much rather trust the fool that fooled the fools.

In order to answer this question with any kind of objectivity and
accuracy, one must look briefly at GWB's background and what brought him to White House, and the issues that he must deal with
these days.
A side comment, we must remember that the Office of the Presidency of the United States is one of the toughest jobs, any
executive must undertake, as you become the target of criticism
from every corner of the globe, besides all the vitriolic sent his way from the opposing political party on the other side of the aisle.
Recently a US senator had the temerity to publicly say that Bush
had run a "failed foreign policy, and should be replaced", short of
saying to be impeached.
If all of us armchair critics had the same issues facing us, how positive and effective could we do, in making the same decisions?
Continuing with GWB's brief bio, sure he has had his share of
social inconsistencies, who hasn't?
Drugs and alcohol abuse have been going on in the entire social strata of the US, even before the charter was less than 1 year old
But I'm not apologizing for his social behaviors, that is between him and God.
GWB attended Phillips Academy @Andover Massachusetts,
(following his father's footsteps) and then applied to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticutt, and was accepted in the Skull and Bones Society. Of course, GWB was only an average student, set no records, academically.
Received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history, 1968.
Obtained an MBA from Harvard early 1970s (only sitting President to hold an MBA)
Married Laura Welch, 1977 had two daughters, Jenna and Barbara, fraternal twins, 1981.
Now we have his academics, among other activities that we participated in, lets get to the meat of the matter.
GWB is not perfect, and neither are we!
As far as weapons of mass destruction (WMD) obviously
there were none found in Iraq, so far.
GWB gets the blame whether he is right or wrong, and America
expects the President to have all the right answers at the right time to apply to all issues America is concerned with.
Lets get real! If you dissect anything with a microscope, there may be inconsistencies found, thats always a given.
you are pointing out terms such as "no doubt" and "pretty sure"
or "its possible" How specific do you want him to get??
GWB isn't the greatest communicator that ever lived, he has many shortcomings in the content and delivery of all his public speeches.
However, I can forgive those shortcomings as long as he makes substantive executive decisions, based on the best available intel given to him at the time of the event.
He has a complete staff of competent advisors at his command, and fifteen cabinet secretaries, and a council of economic advisors to help him navigate the maze of economics as prescribed by a capitalistic society.
And the Joint Chiefs of Staff @the Pentagon for military advice
and mission implementation, including Secretary of Defense
Donald Rumsfeld. and of course all the intelligence agencies, and the National Security Council who help advise him in times of national crisis.
I'm not going to bad mouth the President, as I believe he is doing what he feels is the best course to travel, in foreign policy, it
may bring us into stormy waters, but the stage was set for these
uncertain times way before GWB took the Oath of Office, to serve the Presidency of the United States.
It may go as far back as before the Carter Administration, and
and the Laissez-faire attitude Carter displayed with the Iranian
hostage rescue, and his fight for "Human Rights" and his really
bad decision to let go on the rights to the Panama Canal, what a fiasco that was!
Whether GWB was correct or incorrect is not in my jurisdiction,
I'm not privy to a braintrust of qualified professionals, who have far more training, experience and education than I do.
I don't make foreign or domestic policy for the USA to follow.
I make observations and come up with opinions based on the most accurate research records history and journalism can provide, providing the writers of the thinkpieces are of sound mind
and have made qualified statements in quantity and quality.
Thats it for me, I'll leave it to you to draw your own conclusions,
Just don't be too rough on the Chief of State, he has a series of hard tasks to deal with.
Thats my message.

Last time I checked, Bush was the President of the United States, so therefore, he is my president as well as yours...whether you "approve" or not.
Kerry lost, Bush won. You all need to face that fact, get over it, and allow our president to do his job without the constant whining and counter productive hatred.
In order for a democracy to work, the government and citizens must work with each other, not against one another.

President Bush is indeed my President. And he is yours as well. President Bush was democratically elected to a second term. Further, the intelligence he gathered was accepted and CONFIRMED by the WORLD BODY!!! Also, our soldiers discovered war heads filled with nerve agents (considered weapons of mass destruction; WMD's). "GET WITH IT PEOPLE!"

You know, if Saddam had actually let the weapons inspectors do their jobs, maybe HE could have averted what happened. How come you're not quoting any of the Dem's that saw the same intelligence and drew the same conclusion that the President did?
Yes! Bush is my President!
