Tell them and also make sure your wireless internet is protected. If you can pick up the signal then anyone can. If dodgy people get hold of that then anything they do using that line will be traced back to your IP address and you don't want to be dealing with that when it is too late.

Well, what you can get is free internet when he is connected only. But that may not be worth it. Your neighbour may be smarter than you and he might have done that on purpose to see what you're doing. The IP address you use will be assigned by his comp which he may trace. Have a peek but don't stick your nose too far.

rubbish default settings .. frequently Microsoft (of their countless awareness) have setup instantaneous connection defaults as "connect with get entry to element with maximum valuable sign" .. needless to say, now and lower back that may no longer YOUR instantaneous :-) So circulate into the instantaneous community administration center, 'delete' all of the entries different than the only on your very own base station, good click for residences and set 'connect with this one basically' and 'connect regardless of if no SID broadcast' (or regardless of it relatively is called) . in case you utilize your computing device someplace else you will ought to undergo in concepts what you probably did and while it says 'can no longer connect' you will ought to "% an different get entry to element" .. Now determine you at the instant are not 'pointing' the WiFi aerial at the place the computing device is .. it is not comparable to a television aerial .. the computing device desires to 'see' the area of the aerial (i.e it desires to attain the MAXIMIUM quantity of aerial = that may no longer the 'end of the top').

Hello,
Free Internet for you! No, don't steal their bandwidth, no really...
You will only be able to see their shared documents folder, when their PC is connected (which probably doesn't contain much).
Your neighbours router will have your computer logged as being connected to it, so hope they don't notice you; but as its open they probably don't have much knowledge about logs...
Thanks

No. You will not be able ta access their pc information. I doubt you will be able to go on their broadband width as you need a password and you are not linked to the original one next door.

right click on your wireless, look for gateway IP or summert, and that will be the router homepage. try loggin on2 router and look for his comp name. once connected to his network try and "connect to his network within my network places. he might have a shared document folder. if he is stupid and u r both on same network, and he has xp pro/xp media center then try remote desktop connection with username: administrator and password [blank], and set his my documents to share.
read everything, copy and paste to CD (on ur comp)
then delete all his files.
although i dont promise you will be able to do all this

you are not stealing their bandwith... In the other hand, their signal is invading your house!!!
only what is in the shared folder will be available for each other.
Have a good meal! ;)

I would let them know, Imagine how you would feel if they stole from you.
Tell them to go to the bookshop & get the idiots guide to computers.
Hopefully that will teach them to tighten up their security.
