to all of the people who answered this question, not sure if the laws over this subject varies from state to state, but in the state of Ohio the father has the obligation to pay his child support that he has been ordered from a court to pay until it is paid in full, age has no bearing on this. this is why if and when you child reaches the age of 19 and not being a full time student his support for this child does end with the balance (back payments) that is owed still must be paid in full. in most cases the father and mother can in court come to an cash agreement and settle the debt with each other. to you all that are paying and/or receiving child support payments from an ex or mother/father of your child(s) please read up on what your rights are, this isn't just something that you should keep putting off for another day. if money is owed to your child it is your job to see that he/she receives it, if someone owed you money you would hound then until the bill was paid in full. do the same for your child too...

Hi,
I am a single mom (i have a boyfriend but we are not married) of 3 kids' ages 19,17 and 13.
My ex- has not paid child support in a very long time and he even has a warrant out for his arrest (he works under the table and therefore the authorities can't find him)
Anyway, he owes back support for all 3 kids' as well as current support for the 2 minors. When the authorities finally do catch him, he will have to pay all his back child support arrears no matter what! I hope he gets caught soon.

I would first call your local child support agency to confirm, depending on how many years he was in arrears..... and what state you are in..........I am in Florida and yes, they could attach his income tax check or garnish salary wages...... or even put a lean on a mortgage. They are very strict down here with child support. Good Luck
