What's up with my furnace? I have a Honeywell programmable thermostat set for 68 degrees. The burners will run for 5-10 minutes or so and shut off. Now I know the blower should continue to run to evacuate the fumes, but with 30 seconds the burners kick right back on. It runs non-stop. Why?

Sounds like you are cycling on the limit control,, this is usually from lack of air flow,,, can be caused from dirty filters,,, to many vents and registers closed,, blower motor not working,,,( I know you said yours was working ) A-Coil plugged with dirt,,, ,, Look for an airflow problem.. Good luck

I reread your question,, is the blower running ?

I'm not an expert on HVAC, but I have installed it for a few years and I know a good deal about electronics.

Take my advice. Get a good service guy in there. It will cost you, but you are having a sensor problem or an electronics problem that MUST be solved because this is not a safe situation as you describe it. It would be virtually impossible to diagnose and correct the problem online. Someone has to get in there with a multitester and actually see and hear what all is going on. It could be a bad sensor, a bad relay, or somebody might have fiddled with it. There should be a panel of error codes (probably LCD's) on the circuit somewhere, a service guy would need to see those to correctly diagnose the problem.
Best of luck. - Kevin

Short cycling due to 1. faulty t-stat. 2. furnace overheating due to restricted airflow (stopped up filter or cooling coil. too many registers closed). 3. dirty flame sensor causing erratic operation. clean with fine sand paper, and re-install.
