She gave everyone in the audience $1000 and a digital video recorder to "pay it forward" and tape the act. They have one week to use the money to help someone out and tape it. Then they're to send the "tape" back to Oprah and the best stories will be chosen and aired to a few weeks.
A group of people near me (a mom and three daughters) pooled their money together to buy a single mom a car and put insurance on it for a year and the licence plate. And what ever was left from that went for gas cards for her too.

Here's the deal. She was going to give away a bank card for $1,000 to each of her audience members and then a camcorder. Great, huh? But, here's the catch: the audience member must donate that money to some type of charity and then videotape it on their camcorders-which, turns out, is not theirs, they have to give it back. They are going to "borrow" it so that once they did what they had to do, they will have to give it back. (So, be careful not to drop or damage it in anyway.)
This is the catch. Just like when she gave away brand new cars last year. What she failed to tell you was that you had to pay the taxes on that car-which was in the thousands. And, let's not forget, if you did not have the money to pay for the taxes (as well as getting an adjustment from your car insurance company), then, you had to take whatever little cash you could've gotten from that car deal.
Very nice, Mrs. Winfrey. I wonder if she ever realized that some people in her audience actually needed that $1,000 because of their bills and stuff? I do not think so.
Then she said something about "the art of sharing is giving". What? Some of the looks on the audiences faces was to the point they wished that they weren't there that day to be put in the situation like this.

$1000 credit cards for the people to give to someone or something else, like a charity, not to spend on themselves. she also gave a cam corder to record how they gave it to when they gave it. for another show she will do on this little project of hers.
