That must be Grade 7-8 or 11th grade US History and Govt.

As an American, you owe it to yourself to know more about your government than many immigrants do.

You must NOT have been listening in class when the teacher covered the Constitution.

While you are researching your answer, you should also find out some info on the separation of powers and the basic Constitutional principles.

Check and balance.....

The governmental power is divided into three branches...
1. JUdiciary
2. Legislative
3.Executive...

Constituion
Article 1. gives the executive power to the congress
Article 2. president
Article 3. supreme court

This is to make sure that there isn't too much power vested on a single governmental body
Whatever activity that has to be made..3 branches hav to approve it...otherwise it can't be executed...

The president can never declare a war unless the supreme court and the congress approves him to do so..

Congress could pass a bill..
President could veto it..
Supreme COurt may override the veto..

They are basically given only enough power to function properly and not too much that the President may act as a king or the COngress may manipulate the president or the SUpreme court enforcing laws according to their whims...

-------------------> check and balance....
