instead of downloading 15,000 codecs so you can play all of your different files, try downloading VLC, a free program that plays almost all audio & video files.

you can find the program at download.com, and it's a very small program that won't take up lots of harddrive space, or take long to download the install file!

Get the latest WMP on the microsoft website if you're using a 'genuine' or legit version of windows. Open WMP and go to tools>options and check the download codecs automatically. If you get a file that won't play after downloading the latest standard codecs then forget about that file, it's probably a path to a virus anyway. Beware of rootkits and malware!
