My Human Growth and Development, and Adult Roles teacher was awesome - wish you could use her for a reference!

I'll add to this: here are some of the things she did!

We read Mr. and Mrs. Bo Jo Jones (very good book on teen pregnancy)

We did a project reality, where we had to take our jobs now, or roll a dice for a high school job if we didn't have a job. Budget our expenses of living, food, clothing, medical expenses, emergency, transportation, etc. Then we rolled a dice, and depending on what came up, we either lost a job, got promoted, got pregnant, had twins, etc. And we had to adjust our budgets accordingly.

She had a speaker come talk to us who:
Was a teenage parent
Was raped and got pregnant
Gave a baby up for adoption (teenage pregnancy)
Adopted a baby from a teenage pregnancy
I'm sure there were more....

We got to wear the pregnancy belly for a whole day

We got to take home the baby think it over for a weekend

We watched birthing videos

We had a Nurse Midwife come talk to us about birth/pregnancy and also brought the bottles (aborted) fetuses at different stages in pregnancy (some were miscarriages). She also brought a placenta from a birth that morning - which grossed most of the male attendees out!

There were many things she did that were effective :) Chances are you can't teach birth control, so teach reality! That's usually effective!

yep... We took a class years back where we were taught the lesson, then tossed a potatoe, whomever had the potatoe would answer a question from the teacher about the subject. Also back and fourths are fun, where one person asks a Q, picks a person to answer then that person answers, right or wrong they ask a Q and pass it on to a person they pick, and so on. Whatever you do dont show that movie with the red head chick that gets prego while she's a teen, it was supposed to be a deterrent, but i liked it so much i wanted to have kids even if i was a teen,,, My first kid was born right after i turned 18 and my second is due march.
