Kids are curious and therefore, they'll ask until they hear what they want to hear. Or, they want a more descriptive response. They're very imaginative and they like to know things. It's actually quite educational, it's how the thinking process begins for them.

There are several reasons. One of them is for attention. Another reason is because they haven really understood the explanation you have given them.
A good trick is to ask them the same question back and then you will know whether it is for understanding or attention by the response you get.

Because it is familiar and enjoyable. Because they can and because they have just learned how to ask quesions and enjoy listening to themselves ask as well as you answering. It's reassuring to them. They also like to watch the same movie many times and listen to the same story over and over again.
