I have watched the Price is Right for the last 35 years, and I'm 43 years old. I remember back in the early 80's there was a nighttime version with the host being Doug Davidson (Paul Williams, Young and Restless) that version didn't hold a candle to the daytime show. I love the show and Bob will be sorely missed. What will I watch in the 11:00 hour now? I have actually been missing the old models, Dianne, Holly and Janice. When I started watching, Johnny Oleson was the announcer then Rod Roddy, and this host now. The show in itself is a legend.

Yes, I heard that, too. Bob is retiring. I heard two things: one, that he wanted to retire because he was getting tired of the same routine and after so many years, he wanted to live out the rest of his life just doing public service announcements for spaying and neutering animals. the second thing I heard was that he was being "forced out' because of his age. Then, on top of that, I heard that one of the people they were thinking of getting Dave Price. He works for CBS news as a weather guy. He used to work the 5-7 am shift and now, John Bolaris got that gig and Dave works for "The Early Show", from 7-9 am.
I heard that they were thinking of getting him to do "The Price Is Right".
Personally, I think Bob should retire and they should just show old clips from back in the day. They did that when Bob got sick for a couple of weeks, due to either a death in his family or because of his health and they did not mind showing the "classics". They should do that.

Maybe the person that does Wheel Of Fortune will take Bob Barkers place at Price Is Right! I bet he'd do just as good!

I have not heard that, but it is sad though. I guess he wants to retire to have sometime to himself and family before he passes away. The network should put the show to bed, because it would not be the same with a replacement.

Poor Bob. He seems really bored with the whole thing whenever I watch that show. It was so much better when I was growing up. The prizes seem so lame now. And the stupid t-shirts that the guests wear are so lame.

that's true, he is retiring at the end of this season. I watch TPIR faithfully 3 to 4 times a week, two days a week at work (firestation) and a couple times at home when i am working nites. I am gonna miss him :<(

Yes. He said he wants to retire while he is still young. It definitely won't be the same without him.

AAhh! I can't imagine the show without him. Just like the tonight show was never the same after Johnny Carson left.
