"I am convinced a volunteer army would be an army of the poor and the black and the brown," Kerry wrote. "We must not repeat the travesty of the inequities present during Vietnam. I also fear having a professional army that views the perpetuation of war crimes as simply 'doing its job."

Pretty funny isn't it? He ought to sub for Leno when he is on vacation.

I don't get it, maybe he bothced it back then too?

Funny thing, he sort of apologized yesterday but the 1972 quote seems to be the same thing he said a few days ago, and the 1972 statement doesn't seem to be directed at Bush either.

Its not funny.

The majority of the military is less educated the the general
population of the US in that age bracket. There are more
minorities per capita than in the general population.

Ain't nobody laughing. He's right.

I do not disparage anyone in the military for being there,
but the reality of the situation is that it provides resources
that poor people would otherwise not get, and so is more
attractive to them then to the rich.

Even if that is the deciding issue for 5% of the people there,
it is enough to tip the balance. I suspect that the number is
much higher than that.

That says absolutely nothing about the integrity or intelligence
of the people there - only the statistical statement that they
are more likely to be poorer.

If people were required (regardless of privilege) to be in
the army, presumably that would be less so. However, even
when there was a draft, people with money found ways
around it that people who didn't have money didn't find.

Maybe you think its funny. I sure don't.

The Libs will not get your question they will still think it is a joke. Kerry hates the military he has always hated the military and the only reason he decided to serve was so he could take a film crew and try to duplicate the JFK saga with pt 109. the only thing even close is his initials and they are a JOKE.

John Kerry in 1972 was debating the viability of an all volunteer force. A huge issue of the day.

George Bush in 1972 was drunk and AWOL.

Kerry has been spewing out anti-military rhetoric since his appearence before the Congress in 1967.

Perhaps his testimony then was suppose to also be a "joke."
