Kwanza began in North America in the early 70s I believe as a celebration. It's a week long festival, usually beginning the day after Christmas and it celebrates African Traditions for Black Americans. I believe each day has a certain significance or lesson for people to observe.

Hannukah, is a Jewish holiday which celebrates the Jews escape from Egypt with only one night's oil left in a lamp and the miracle is it lasted 8 days. Hannukah is usually close to the Christian holiday of Christmas. This year according to my calendar Hannukah begins dec. 16.
