Of course we do! And the state of our nations is partly to blame. For instance, credit cards are too readily available, and we attain items that we cannot really afford, hence we get into incredible debt. This, in turn, leads to other atrocities. With all the technology available to us, films have become so violent that we have become de-sensitised to the gore that they portray. Maybe this plays a part in us becoming more violent. Our 'nanny state' has almost eradicated discipline for children and criminals; and the benefits system is abused by many. We have no respect for our environment and endangered species. We expect far too much and we have become incredibly selfish because of this. The world is in a sorry state!!!

To me it seems the more we are given the more we want and even when we know its wrong or silly we selfishly don't want to give it up!
Status nowadays seems to depend on what you HAVE! It is the constant yearning for a Better Life and the mistaken belief that Fancy Houses Or Flashy Cars will make us happy! We are as much to blame as any Goverment But Who really WANTS to ADMIT it!
Thing is How many Adverts encourage this behaviour! Not many people in the UK need 4 wheel drive cars but nearly every other car I see nowadays seems to be one! Fashion and adverts seem to rule!
It also applys with freedom! The more we have the more we expect and try to give it to our young and young people watch TV and follow fashion! Notice how through the century past those freedoms are given at an earlier age than before!
Its a resounding YES WE DO! and YES WE ARE!

YES!!!
I think americans as a whole have a sense of entitlement that is fast getting out of hand. The upcoming generations most of all. In this we've also become arrogant. I believe this will eventually bring down this empire, like so many before it... Sadly, we don't seem to learn from other's mistakes.

Yes! It's called 'Keeping up with the Jones's'...People tend to get things far easier than they used to and unknowingly we have become selfish and materialistic..Almost everyone you speak to talks about what they are buying, what they want..Greed and the always wanting for more, bigger, better has taken top priority..Call me old fashioned but i feel happier TRYING to be part of the 'old school' when all around you people look at you as though you've lost your mind..As they say...the best things in life are free! Love , Pride and honesty, you don't need much more!...Oh other than my PC, my IPod, my flat screen TV, my cinema surround System, my new car, my....................................
My god...i wouldn't want to be left out now! :-/

of course we are to blame.
if we USA (like Little Brazil has for years )move to ethanol the terrorists cant fund themselves on soybeans or corn . but we let the few oil barrons rule. they need profits so we live in terror?
we are losing the middle class and homelessness is sweeping the lands even the wealthiest ..
and if we save a tax dollar and can/or can live in luxury we don't question.
unless gods playing a big joke, i think WE did it.

Not everybody does
I find no value in materialistic things, I just have my basic needs taken care of and that's all I need.
Makes it a lot easier to be myself, too!

yes our standard of life is too high in my opinion, straight from being a baby you get every toy you want and we expect many things to be handed to us... every generation before mine is at least a little tougher than mine
