I have a couple of stamps that I can't seem to identify. They look exactly like the first two US stamps shown in the Scott Catalogue. A five cent Benjamin Franklin and a ten cent (in roman numeral) George Washington. But, the colors are not the same? The book says that the Franklin is red brown in color and mine is blue. And the Washington in the book is black and mine is a burnt orange in color??? Are these fakes or what?

Try contacting Mystic Stamps.com or Kenmore.Com
they would be able to tell you if they are fakes or not. If you have a stamp store close to you they would also be able to tell you
I have looked in my collection and my Washington is a faded black and my Franklin is also faded [ cause they are very old ].
I would surely check into this before adding to your collection.
The only way Franklin is blue is in the Pacific '97 Commemorative Sheet. The same for the Washington the sheet shows it in Burnt Orange. Sperate they are worthless, on the sheet they are worth money. The sheets where sold in San Francisco.

Hope this helps you some

See my answer to your other question. I forgot to add that these 1947 reproductions are still worth approximately their face (postal) value, as they were printed in very large quantities. And they were issued at a huge stamp show in New York City, so collectors bought them in enormous numbers and socked them away.
