can anyone give me information about the "war of the worlds" not the movie but when they made people think aliens were coming and the world was coming to an end.

I believe that you are referring to Orson Welles 1938 radio broadcast that caused a panic in New Jersey.

During the radio broadcast, people thought that aliens really WERE attacking because the story was structured like a breaking news report. The only time that the story was announced as fictional was during the very beginning, so people tuning in thought that the "news reports" were genuine.

i think it happend in the late 30's my grandpa told me about it. supposably all of his neighbors freaked out and started boarding up their windows and getting their shotgun ready. lol. it was a radio brodcast that i think was supposed to be a story or like a radio show or something.
