Just interested to see how many copies the tabloids sell in comparison to the newspapers.

How many copies do the Sun, The Daily Record, the Times, the Independent and the Guardian sell each day?

Looking for actual figures and link to source if possible.

The Audit Bureau of Circulation is the only verified independent source of sales figures for newspapers and magazines. (www.abc.org.uk) This will provide you with the average daily sales figures, included those sold in newsagents and through subscriptions.

For the period 28 Aug - Oct 1 these are the figures :

The Sun - 3,216,918
The Daily Record - 428,426
The Independent - 265,051
The Indepedent on Sunday - 234,121
The Guardian - 389,186

You can get this information on the ABC website, and also for any local, regional or national newspaper in the UK.

I hope this helps.

A ballpark figure will probably be found amongst advertising information for each of the papers. Also the (ABC) Audit Bureau of Circulation, an independent auditing firm releases information on circulation figures. On Wikipedia, I found these numbers if you can't access those of the individual papers or the ABC reports.

The Guardian ~ As of Dec 2005 ~ Daily Circulation ~ 380,693
The Daily Record ~ As of Dec 2004 ~ Daily Circ. ~ 451,672
The Sun ~ As of Early 2006 ~ Daily Circulation ~ 3,154,881
The Independent ~ As of Nov 2005 ~ Daily Circ. ~ 261,193
The Times ~ As of Nove 2005 ~ Daily Circulation ~ 905,955

There are many things that will affect the total number of papers circulated. The largest being, discounted subscriptions. So, take those things into account when you compare the statistics.
