The reason being that we in the UK are amongst the most generous in the world and always have been to the forefront of giving to charities.
I understand what you are saying and I also feel at times that charity should begin at home. However, lets face it we also have a history of wasting money hand over fist so I see no purpose using the money in this country as we would compalin why has the money gone to this and not to that.
Our elected government is responsible for shoring up services such as the NHS, but they have made a real pigs ear of it. And also our own expectations I think are too high.
It does grieve me to see people in this country living in appalling
conditions. Though surely at the end of the day why do we not all complain more instead of sitting back with a complacent smirk on our faces that says ' I'm alright Jack'.

Bob Geldof said it all at the first LIVE AID Concert If Every Person in the country donated £1 they would be happy! The same with other charity events!
But No-one Listened then Which is Why We still have problems Now!
We all feel that it's up to the ones with more money! But unless you really are the richest man in the world someone will always have more!
We should be helping all, But in this country the problems are often caused by financial reasons. Whereas in poor countries it sometimes only takes a tap in a village to make major changes
Try asking anyone to pay more in taxes for more nurses and most will say they pay TOO MUCH already.

it really is an extremely good question – you deserve a star. It brings into scrutiny the entire theory of religious-depending charities. i'm very intrigued to confirm some human beings does not provide money because they worship a distinct God. This smacks of religious discrimination or religious intolerance – this kind of component that ends up in wars and terrorist bombs on public shipping . And to respond to the question: i does not provide money to any charity , I provide my time and abilities - a million hour a week to the Helios starting up . I even do not comprehend what ‘ faith ‘ this charity is. It does not and could not count number.

Because compared to them, the poor in this country are rich.
Most people in this country get water out of a tap in their home, they don't need to spend all day walking to collect, and bring back the only water available for them, dirty water.
I only believe in giving money to encourage and enable people to help themselves, educating the children, and the adults, helping them discover sources of clean, local water.
And I don't spend as much on these charities, as I saved by being very careful with the water from my water meter.

It is always thought to think of others before yourself. Not that it is bad to think of yourself before others. We should help other people because we are compassionate, kind, generous, good-minded, and are not greedy. The U.S is the 3rd richest country in the world, so why not share some of that money to third-world countries and poverty-stricken countries?
