I don't know but this American would sure love to live there. Specifically Barcelona, it's heaven!

Loads of them! There is an active social scene and a number of clubs built up around the embassey in Madrid as the 1st point of contact. eg American wives club.
Madrid is always the best place to live :-)

There is also a large military presence in the south of Spain due to the airbase.
