I've got an old Gateway 450 Mhz P3 computer with 64 megs of RAM sitting around. I don't want to junk it, but I don't really know what I want to do with it. What would you do with this machine if you had it?

Remember, I don't want to junk it. I don't want to donate it either. I'm thinking about using as like a giant ipod and hooking it up to my theatre system.... Creative ideas are welcomed!

You could cut arm-holes and wear it around. Everyone likes a computer-man.

Donate it. Sure it's too old for the things you want it to do, but for someone trying to learn the basics, it would be perfect. Put it on FreeCycle to see if someone in your area wants it. Donate it to Salvation Army, a church, a school, or a local YMCA. Don't throw it away though, it has too much value for people lacking general computer skills.

To be honest, I'd throw it away as its not worth anything these days. I suppose if you have a lot of older games you could hang onto it though, as they often have trouble running on newer hardware.

I would probably donate it, or I would install an old Linux version.
