My gynecologist gave me a prescription for nuvaring and told me that if I wanted to not have a period I could use the ring for 4 straight weeks and then immediately replace it with a new ring...has anybody tried this? Any side effects? I am sort of nervous to try it, although I'd love to not have a period every month.

A friend of mine said her gyno told her to do the 4 week program (keeping it in for 4 weeks and then immediately putting a new one in at the end of the 4 weeks) for 3 months at a time and then have a period. but she was advised to do this because of certain complications that arise during her period that affect her health in other ways. you should really talk to a professional to make sure...and then let me know because I would love to be without a period for a while.

Yes, sure! Ruin your body while you're young, I'm sure there are no side effects to neutralizing what's a natural body function. I don't like to 'make' either, there should be a drug to make that stop.

No one exceptionally enjoys a period, but they're worth having.
