okay i was searching through my sister's room. she's in college now. i found her journal. I read through it. in it she said she believe people were reading her mind and watching her. i've noticed i catch mumbling things to herself a lot. she prays excessively, i mean one every three minutes. she makes the sign of the cross every three minutes also and bows down and hits her head on the ground and raises her open arms. She also shakes her head alot. what should i do? does she have a disorder? she also thinks everyone hates her.

She definitely could. She needs a professional to diagnose and treat her. Also, if she is suffering from paranoia, snooping through her things is likely to make the situation worse.

I agree that it sounds like your sister could have some symptoms of paranoid schizophreia, or some sort of psychotic disorder. It sounds like she is definately having paranoid delusions (people reading her mind and watching her). Often people suffering from extreme paranoia become obsessive with things such as religion (trying to find help) and it sometimes becomes all they can think about or do. It sounds like she is even sampling from religions: catholicism, protestant, muslim (bowing).
Here are some criteria for meeting a diagnosis for schizophrenia (there are many different types of by the way):
must have 2 or more of the following symptoms for 6 months or more: hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, general disorganized or cataonic behavior (extreme), or other types of negative syptoms which are the absense of normal behavior like isolation, no real emotions, etc. There also must be some sort of social dysfunction, in other words it interfers with everyday functioning. Schizophrenics generally have a history of poor social skills due to their symptomology.
Now Schizophrenia is definately not the only type of psychotic mental disorder, it's just the most common so to say.
I would say that if you are really worried that she could have something like that you should definately get her some professional help. A word of caution though, be very gentle with the approach to her. If she is paranoid she probably won't take it well and may end up turning against you temporarily or deny it or fight etc. She needs to see that there are people she can trust before she can accept help.
Of course no one can really tell what is exactly going on with your sister over the internet inpersonally and without a more complete history so follow your instincts and intuition :) Even if you find out that she does have some sort of psychoitc disorder it's not the end of the world. I have seen people have very severe psychotic breaks and return to such normal functioning with the proper therapy that you would never believe it.

it relatively is no longer hassle-free to confirm if she has bipolar at this style of youthful age. yet that does no longer rule out that she might have a difficulty. Her habit being so aggressive and at circumstances violent does point out a deeper difficulty than in basic terms popular teenage habit. interestingly a series off for her is tapping and humming. Arguments basically inflame the situation extra. She actually desires to get help. consequently, i think a psychiatrist could be mandatory. A therapist does no longer have the huge education that a psychiatrist has nor the skill grant medicine that the affected person might %. **i'm bipolar and grew up in a bipolar domicile. My grandmother and mom are. My oldest sister is schizophrenic. My ultimate chum in intense college had an anger administration difficulty. So I do have some journey. sturdy success. permit me know the way it is going.**

Wow... sounds like a classic case of Schizophrenia to me. You should definitely get her to a mental health professional as soon as possible. Schizophrenics rarely understand that they are having psychotic breaks. If she really believes these things then she is probably a paranoid schizophrenic but only a licensed professional can make that determination and it is very important that you make sure she see's one. Her quality of life will improve when she gets help.

sounds maybe- paranoid or some psychotic disorder at worst...
there are medical disorders and psyche disorders can cause this .
a trip to the md and psyche are in order.
also do some research on your own and join nami.
if it is paranoia getting her to agree to seeking any help may be a huge struggle for her and you.

it sounds alot like OCD...she probably remembers something embarrasing or a trumatic event that causes her to pray as a way of repressing her thoughts and emotions. you should encourage her to seek professional help.
