There is a girl in one of my classes who very proudly proclaims that she is emo(is it un-emo to say you're emo?). But to me, she looks the same as any other goth/punk. So what's the difference?

Punk - LEATHER JACKET! skateboarding associated with it blah blah
Goth - Wears black and black eyeliner and listens to death metal or black metal.. But proudly shows it.
Emo - Very emotional, cutting is associated with emo, does wear black too but they are much softer than goths

emo=depressed ppl who thinks the world hates them.
goth=ppl who wear all black with alot of spike bracelets,etc.
punk=kind of like the guy from "JAY and Silent Bob".More rock.
