Yes, the sugar stuck to your teeth turns to acid and can be felt at the dentin level below the enamel around the gums, and/or irritate already festered gums. Plaque is a layer of scum on the teeth which adheres to the surfaces. Normally the saliva will neutralize the acids but the tight network of bacteria, fed by the surgars, shields the acid directly on the surface of the tooth and in crevases. It takes 24 hours for plaque to build up on the teeth. One good brush a day is good, but two is recommended using a flouride toothpaste.
Brush well after eating sweets to avoid the pain and decay of the teeth.

But erm, you could probably speed it up by eating really cold dark chocolate (the dark's only personal preference), or punching yourself in the mouth a few times.

But seriously, the chocolate itself would take a few thousand bars, very quickly, to have any immediate effect, excluding rotting by sugar etc.

Actually, chocolate is good for your teeth. It's the sugar in the chocolate that's the killer.

If you already have a sensitivity in your teeth chocolate will certainly aggravate it.
