It's easy to use the cliche that people fear what they don't understand, but what causes them to enact violence and hatred is actually learned behavior. Someone taught those people to be biggots. If you watch little children, they don't decide who to play with based on their skin color. They dont even notice a difference. That behavior is passed on from generation to generation and I'm afraid it will never stop. And some people are so simple minded that they lump together all of those in the same group as the one individual that wronged them. Like saying all black people steal and all Muslims are terrorists is just an indication of a very ignorant person. That, I'm afraid, won't go away either.

Due to ignorance, fear, or low self-esteem, or insecurity; it is so much easier to divert attention to others rather than focus on one's own imperfections or flaws. Not to say that handicapped people or people of color are by any means flawed or imperfect that is how the Lord intended them to be and that is a truly beautiful thing. I also would like to clarify that I am a person of color and I work with the handicapped. I choose to view people that are disrespectful, rude or inconsiderate on those terms, that allows me to put them in perspective that they are human and no better or worse than I am.

I think some people tend to stay with poeple they are similar with such as ethnic background, interests, and profession. They spend more time with people they're familiar with than people who are different. So, they feel strange by someone who are different from them. They might be scared, or just don't know how to communicate with people who are different because they aren't used to them. So instead of trying to understand others, they judge and say rude things. (I'm sorry for my bad English... I hope I explained it clearly...)

it kind of goes that phrase that "people hate what they dont understand" and it's easier to hate something for no reason than to like it for no reason and easier to hate it than to understand it.....it's stupid and i dont get it in either case myself....it's important to try to just look at people as people and get to know them as such and let color or religion or whatever else just be an addition to who that person is as opposed to all that person is or can be.......
