Oh my, don't get me started. I worked in Child Protective Services and I was always so amazed at the stupid complaints that SCHOOL OFFICIALS made on parents concerning their children. My thing is, your wife is a PROFESSIONAL, trained to carry a weapon, which is properly secured within a holster. My point, if the school or others are so concerned about a police officer, who is SUPPOSE to have a gun, what about the danger of her leaving her child in a school filled with children who may have a gun and other weapons in their bookbags, or the real possibility of a crazed teacher or former janitor coming into the school and do something stupid. No one is worried about that! Shool officials have their priorities mixed up. I know everyone remembers Columbine and the recent school shooting........I have yet to hear anything about a female cop endangering her child while in uniform!!!!!!!

Of course. I'm assuming this is elementary school, since someone clearly hasn't been in a high school lately. Uniformed (and armed) police officers are the norm, not the exception.
And to the person who complained that by picking up the kid at school is distracting from the duties...boo hoo. I say that the more visible our police officers are, the better off our neighborhoods are.

the problem that i have with this is not the child being to close to the gun. It is the fact that the police officer is uniformed and if they are on duty they could be called away in a second. if someone really needed help from the police and the officer that was droping off their child at school was the closest they have the problem of getting the child out of the car and that can make the response time longer. it may not seem like much but it could mean alot to someone who needs help.

Yes I do think it is OK for a police officer to drop their child/ren off to school in uniform. Simply because police officers are parents just like all of us and they have their guns safely secure and out of reach for all.

What a joke. The complainant must be a bleeding heart idiot. Police officers have guns and rightly so. They risk their lives to provide safety and service. They should be respected (and paid much better.)

whoever complained wants to get themselves a life-if somebody was attacking their home with their children inside and needed the intervention of an armed officer of the law they wouldn't complain-tell them to get stuffed (thats an english way of saying f**k off). of course your wife should drop your kids off in uniform if she has no other choice-its called being a mother.

Yes..... Look at it this way: There are already police officers in uniform at schools, so what's the difference if one picks up/drops off their chlid(ren), too?

The police work to 'protect and serve'. They are poorly paid for the dangerous job they do, and they are considered to 'always be on duty' in or out of uniform. I think your wife should be praised not criticized - thanks to her, we (and our children) are a little safer each day.

I think she should be allowed to drop them off. Other parents in uniform drop their children off, why should she be any different? If she is not abusing her position then I don't see a problem.
