Was he trying to get conservatives out demanding respect for our troops in order to rally liberals that disapprove of the troops? Was he testing his words to see if our country was in situation as NAM and thought that speaking out against them could make him a liberal hero?

Kerry was simply catering to the audience at hand. Liberal Professors and the college kids that follow them Blindly. Quite like the Dixie Chicks did when they made there GWB comments overseas. Neither party counted on the BACKLASH. Both sides love expressing there right to Free Speech. Yet they turn right around and ***** when others Express there own right to Free Speech in Disagreeing with them.

Please go to the link below. It ain't just Democrats.
The fact is there are several Republican saying they know what Kerry was trying to say was a joke about Bush being dumb. Here is a link to the transcripts from the Chris Mathews show.

Read the Dick Armey quotes. No friend of the Democrats. Very revealing.

The best quote I read about the whole thing was in another article. "Is the White House too stupid to know he was making a joke about them being stupid"

Who really cares what John Kerry says anyway. Does that have anything to do with anyone you're voting for? The Republicans want to get everyone fired up over this to take away from the issues. It's pretty sleazy politics and both sides do it.

Absolutely. He works for the republicans just as much as bush does. Don't think so, think about how he went hunting in Ohio a week before the election......just like when Dukakis got into a tank and put on a helmet back in the 80's. Wake up people, you're being lied to every single day and the propaganda is working. It says in the constitution that we as a nation have every right to take back this country by force if have have to .... it's law. Research, pay attention and quit thinking your iPod is more imortant than politics......your life will thank you for it when you get older. be well

I am a conservative, although I really don't agree with Bush about this war and many other things. And, I believe that the response Bush gave makes him look worse than Kerry's remark could ever make Kerry look. It's like we all know Kerry wasn't saying that our troops are uneducated, but Bush honed right in on that.

John Kerry is brilliant, and made America think about the truth of Iraq. You sure have the right wingers screaming now don't you? They have no platform anymore for 08 with the military being backdoor drafted all along. Kerry just used Bush's fear based initiative to prove a valid point to Americans. I don't think any Republicans were at that speech anyway, do you? They need to mind their own business...

He never called them stupid. He said they were there to get an education; which most of them are because they can't otherwise get it .

On the other hand, the North Korean nuclear test was a political stunt created by the republicans to now say that they fixed something. Most people just can't even see this, and they count on that.

I don't think Kerry is so foolish as to pull a political stunt that would hinder his own party.

I think he probably just misspoke, but it was thoughtless on his part at the very least.

Your not even close. He's pissed they made him run against Bush so he'd lose, that way Hillary could run in 08 and not have to wait for 2012. Hes a trooper and they know he'd take the bulliet.
