Basically, that question sums up what the Bush Administration are all about with their national surveillance programs and laws such as the Patriot Act and Military Conventions Act.
They are doing all they can to be controversial in the way they try to provide us for safety...all except for doing something which would not spark opposition if they tried. And that is increasing border security.
Is it just me, or are the incumbent republicans really off their rocker?

Bush could use the FBI to conduct reasonable searches...or at the VERY LEAST acquire warrants for his wire-tapping.

Sacrificing morality? How about the Constitution? I cant wait until all these neo cons realize that we were sold a bill of goods as far as terrorists go...and how much they sacrificed for a little bit of "safety" After all, Homeland Security is big business. It's not just you, they are off their rockers.

I think that Benjamin Franklin said it best:
"Any society that would give up a little liberty, to gain a little security, will deserve neither, and lose both."

I wish that our poor country did not have to endure this Republican tirade for so long, but maybe this is what it took for society to realize that every vote counts, and that they need to get off their lazy *** and vote!!!! Democrats are coming out of the woodwork from everywhere, and attacking, and I couldn't be happier!!!! But it is a shame how many years that it is going to take to rebuild our country.

I wish I could disagree with you on this But I can't. GWB has DROPPED the Ball on Immigration. What makes this matter even worse is the fact that the Dems have done Nothing either. Both parties are selling America out to Illegals in Hopes of granting AMNESTY to 25 Million New Voters, They'd rather Sell out the MAJORITY in America in Hopes of grasping a current Minority voting Block but is the fastest growing block in the USA.

The Bush Administration is not listening to your phone calls. The Patriot Act simply allows government officials to track phone calls of terror suspects. If all of these security measures didn't go into effect, then it is very likely that another terrorist attack would have occured.

Nothing is being sacrificed. This administration is determined to prevent another attack on this country and so far has succeeded despite obstructionism from the Democrats.
No one has been tortured as leftists like to claim. No one in the USA has been dragged from their home in the middle of the night never to be heard from again.
The way you liberals go to the extreme in your reasoning would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic. Yes, you are off your rocker.

Unnecessary security? If you aren't doing illegal things, then what is there to be afraid of? Some people need to be watched more closely than others because that seems to have an effect that keeps them "honest"! No sacrifice in that!
