You can add color as soon as 48 hours after it has been applied. Typically you clean the grout with a cleaner used for grout. Then you apply the color to the grout with a brush supplied with the color or with a tooth brush with a back and forth motion. After the color has dried for 1 or more hours (never more than 12 hours) lightly mist with water and let stand for 5 minutes. Remove excess color from surface of tile with the water and a white nylon scrub pad. It will be ready for surface traffic in about 2 hours. keep area dry for at least 24 hours. Avoid direct scrubbing on grout joints for 20 days to get a full cure. This procedure may vary depending on the color product you use.

Don't use paint! They make a "stain" to darken grout. Check out the tile aisle in your local hardware store.

Go to your local home center and tell them you want to darken your grout. Get a color sample from them and return home to match the color to your tile. Go with a gradual change. Over do it and you will be bleaching your tiles back to another color. So don't get drastic too fast.

This is simple. There is an epoxy grout sealer with colorant in it. You put it on and then just wipe it off the tile. www.aquamix.com/

i had the same problem. i just did a very thin layer of the correct color over the existing grout. it sucks to have to grout again, but you don't have to rip out what's there already.

Difficult...the best idea seems to get a tiny brush & paint a darker colour over it like you said. An alternative could be not to let it bother you?
