What happens when you huff de-icer?

some kid killed himself in a car wreck and they said he was doing this.

It depends a bit what is in it. If ethyl alcohol, perhaps not too muc if you are lucky - a really bad move but it might not kill you. If it is methanol base then VERY small amounts will blind you, slightly more WILL send you mad and more still (but still only a table spoon or two) WILL kill you later on.

Methanol breaks down to Formic acid and formaldehyde (embalming fluid), tiny amounts kill vision, alittle more kills of so much of the brain you go a little mad. A bit more still will end up with you dying a little while later.

Brain cells die in fairly big numbers, and eventually, the individual doing this dies if they're lucky. If they're not lucky, they end up a vegetable with no hope of recovery. Either way, the individual in question proves Charles Darwin's theory of the survival of the fittest by removing themselves. It's sad, but that's reality for ya.
