You don't in my experience

Not sure that I understand your question -

you received an email from someone and you want to find out who that person is? If that is the question, it is in general hard to do.

You do however already have the IP address from the person who sent you the email (it is embedded in the email header), you can than trace the ipaddress to a location, but even then, it is often no specific enough to get you a name without going to the service provider and asking for the data (which they won't give without a court order)
