In Arizona they are proposing a lottery to encourage people to vote. Every person who votes is automatically entered into a millon dollar lottery.
I think it's bad. It will just bring uninformed voters to the polls who don't know or don't care about what or who they're voting about, and are just looking at a chance for free money.

I haven't heard about this specifically, but in theory, I agree- it would just bring in uninformed voters. We need voters who have opinions that need to be heard; the payoff of voting is having someone in office to do the job correctly and get things done, what's a better incentive to vote than that?

I am for anything to get higher voter participation.

In this country, it is considered a success if half of registered voter vote. That does not include those who are eligible to vote that are not registered. It is a sad commentary on the American citizenry.
