1 mile = 1.60934 km

... which is the same thing as saying
1 km = 0.621371 miles

Hence (27 km) x (0.621371 mile/km) = 16.7770 miles
and (6.4km) x (0.621371 mile/km) = 3.9768 miles

27 / 8 * 5 = 16.875
6.4 / 8 * 5 = 4

Those aren't exact, but for most purposes a km is 5/8 of a mile and a mile is 1 3/5 KM
